Churchville raised Tom Quinn's "The New Year Parade" has won the Grand Jury Narrative Feature at the 14th annual Slamdance Film Festival, which runs alongside Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The film, shot largely in South Philly, deals with the effects divorce has on a family and prominently features the South Philadelphia String Band. Quinn, 31, is a graduate of Archbishop Wood and LaSalle University. He's currently enrolled at Temple for graduate film studies. "The New Year Parade," which stars Jennifer Welsh and Greg Lyons, also a musician, who played in Laguardia and now Eastern Conference Champions, is to screen at New York's IFC Center next month.
