Howard Eskin getting a co-host?
610 WIP's Howard Eskin was paired last week with Rob Ellis, his first time with a co-host since he partnered with Mike Missanelli from 1999 to 2002. Missanelli's ratings on 950 ESPN, where he hosts opposite Eskin's afternoon drive show, have surpassed Eskin in the coveted radio demographic of men 25-54. Is the new coupling part of WIP's reaction to the ratings slip? Eskin now features more guests on his show, runs contests and even seems to be acting more polite to callers. We asked station manager Marc Rayfield if Eskin would permanently be partnered with Ellis, who also works producing "Daily News Live" on Comcast SportsNet. We didn't hear back.
UPDATE: Rayfield just e-mailed to say that Eskin that since 2002 was paired briefly with Hugh Douglas and Anthony Gargano and regarding Ellis, he says "We like Rob a lot and are just trying to get him more at-bats."

- Eskin is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Eagles news; but he also is a mouthpiece for the organization. He has a handshake deal with Big Red, that he gets priority on Eagles info, if he brings Ried 15 whoppers to every practice. Mikey Miss- is good although I think he bites off of Gargano's show. Mikey Miss is in violation for using the violation or not violation in his program- That has been Ant's thing for years, come up with your own material.....— Criz2020
- Glen and Diddy always involves the former interviewing the latter, even on non football issues. That is really getting old along with at least an hour of 5guys commercials. Glen, just use Ray as a co-host, please !!!— mick314

- WIP is a ship on the way down. They are lucky Cataldi decided to stay...once he's gone it's over. Gargano- a marbled mouth bore, Macnow- annoying with his "please accept me Philly" food lists. Eskin-his act has been tired since 1989...They should try to lure Missanelli back for the drive-time slot— Will T.

- I dont know if many people remember but back in the late 80s and early to mid 90's he was incredible when it came to sports talk radio. He worked tirelessly and it paid off in breaking news stories and educated conversation on the radio. Unfortunately, at some point he started with the fashion plate, look who I know, genius...moron persona which have grown tired. Now he just mails in his show the few moments I check in during other shows commercials. Its a shame but somewhere he lost his edge and chose to be part of the story and not reporting it.— rvb2321
- Gargano is a mush-mouth. How he ever got a radio gig is beyond me. And who was the genius that put that face on TV??
- Mike is a sharp guy who is more informed than Eskin. Howard is like a broken record and his act has worn old. WIP runs more commercial breaks than WPEN. I believe that WIP might even run more spots than WFAN in New York which is astounding.— Drew777
- I hate Eskin and Angelo, the two people on when I'm driving in the morning, so I turn on Fox Sports Radio in the morning and 950 during the afternoon. Mike Miss is solid, but not great. Glenn, Jolly, and Anthony are great, but I never am in the car for them.— hegzatsc
