Fox 29 News Director resigns "for personal reasons."

After only seven months on the job, Fox 29 News Director Phil Metlin announced his resignation to staff minutes ago. Citing "personal reasons," Metlin told staff he was heading to Washington, DC's WTTG. Metlin joined the station in May after 10 years at Fox 13 in Tampa, FLA. He replaced Holly Gauntt who left the station in January. Sources say Metlin, who was well-liked by staff, was micromanaged by Fox execs in New York who have increasingly been involved in matters at various Fox affiliates. Metlin did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment. A station spokeswoman confirmed Metlin's resignation and said passed along a quote from Mike Renda, Fox 29 VP/GM that "We appreciate Phil's hard work and the contributions he made to Fox 29 News during his time with our station,"
