East Falls native inks deal with Showtime for "Sober Coach"

East Falls native David Bar Katz has signed a deal with Showtime to co-write and executive-produce a half-hour comedy called "Sober Coach."

Katz pitched the show with Denis Leary, who will produce it. Katz tells us it's about an "out-of-control addict who hires a former addict to move in with him and babysit him." He says the pair have "an 'Odd Couple' relationship."

The son of reformed playboy Harry Jay Katz, David's credits include "House of Buggin' " on Fox; the theatrical and HBO show "Freak," both collaborations with John Leguizamo, and the play, "The History of Invulnerability."
