Sonita Williams holds a bible as her husband Seth Williams is sworn in as District Attorney in Jan. 2010.

District Attorney Seth Williams and wife Sonita have “Decided to end our marriage,” the couple confirmed in a joint statement this afternoon.

The decision was made “After long and careful consideration,” and the couple will “Remain close friends and loving co-parents to our beautiful daughters,” said the couple who have 24, 12, and 8-year-old daughters.

“We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. We ask respect for our family's privacy at this time,” said the statement.

Sources tell us that the DA and Sonita, a social worker have been effectively-separated for about a year, but remained living together until recently.

Seems they "separated" when he became DA. Did Sonita "wait" until now to go public for political reasons? Would a pre-election separation have changed the results? Is this going to cost taxpayers? If not, then we do not need to know their marital status. Thanks for trying anyway.

So, which one of them has someone else? This is the case in more than 99% of marriage break-ups. I wish them both the best.

I remember when Ed Rendell and his wife and Al Gore and his wife separated basically when their husbands politics careers ended

Gone are the days when political wives would stand by their man until they were 'rewarded' with a judgeship (looking at you Midge). Sonita you have some self respect and class, very rare. Seth-I feel your wife's regret (you're as bad a DA as you are a husband)

The man was probably working overtime (if you know what I mean). These people are over sexed and under fed when it comes to morality.

Sorry, that this had to become news for the public to discuss. Frankly, this is something that should have remained between husband and wife and their family.
Get back to reporting things that really matter and not this type of stuff that only creates gossip and speculation from the public.
