Diddy party? Or didn't he?

Sean "Diddy" Combs never made it inside a July 4 party at The Pool at Harrah's in Atlantic City because Harrah's ended the event early due a "larger than anticipated" turnout, according to the hotel.

The popularity of the Pool After Dark "well-surpassed our expectations," according to a statement from Jay Snowden, senior vice president and GM of Harrah's. Snowden said the turnout caused the party to end early and also caused the cancelation of the nightlife activities planned for Monday.

Around 3 a.m. Monday Diddy told Twitter followers that "The party was so crazy I couldn't even get in ! 10 thousand people showed up. Damn I was ready to party!" The music producer/fashion designer/actor, who can be seen now in "Get Him to the Greek," said he was doing the two-step alone in his hotel room.

Harrah's says the pre-ticketed event was not oversold but "an unexpected number of guests" showed up without tickets hoping to be accomodated at the door. "We were proactive in closing the pool in an effort to avoid potential issues," according to Jennifer Weissman, VP of marketing for Harrah's, responding to our inquiry as to whether several fights had broken out after the event was shut down, as partygoers have claimed.

Atlantic City Police spokeswoman Sgt. Monica McMenamin did not immediately return a request for comment Monday as to whether any incidents of violence were reported at the Pool at Harrah's or if any arrests were made.

Refunds for ticketholders who didn't get into the Diddy party are available at the Brigantine entrance to Harrah's, at wanttickets.com or by phone at 212-921-2100. Anybody with tickets for today's event can visit the Red Door Spa at Resorts, or go to wanttickets.com, ticketmaster.com or call 212-921-2100.
