Fox 29 has confirmed that longtime anchor Dawn Stensland will be leaving the station at the end of her contract, which expires before the end of the year. The exact timetable of her departure is still being worked out, a spokeswoman told us moments ago. Kerri-Lee Halkett will take over as co-anchor of Fox 29 News at Ten alongside Thomas Drayton. Stensland, wife of fired CBS 3 anchor Larry Mendte, started at Fox 29 in December 2001 having worked previously at CBS 3.
Stensland, who has not returned our call this afternoon, today posted the following on her Twitter page: "Fox is not renewing my contract. I wanted you to hear that directly from me. Thank you for all your love and support over the years."

- I,m sorry to See Dawn leave. Fox 10,o'clock news was the only local news show we watched. We only watched is,because we enjoyed being with Dawn for an hour. I never enjoyed Kerry lee. We will now only watch cable news. I couldn't stand watching the news without Dawn.— jeanne mcdonnell
- Kerri-Lee is AWFUL! How she wins emmys is beyond me, she has the worst delivery in the Philly TV market. 29 is killing itself. They got rid of Don Tollefson, Gerald Kolpan, Billy V, Dr. Brian McDonough, and of course, the worse they ever did was to get rid of Jill Chernekoff and Rich Noonan, who were just about the best team anchors ever on any station in this city. Thomas Drayton is too melodramatic and sorry, too ugly (HE's a "sexy single"? WUT?!) - Dawn seems like a very nice person. It is a shame that she chose a career (TV Media) that is full of sharks and back stabbing vamps. Dawn needs to find another way to make a living. - The big question is "how will Dawn & Larry deal with unemployment?" Dawn and Larry are both over the hill now. They have no market value. It will pretty interesting to see Larry applying for work at Wal-Mart or Burger King. - Unless you are on top in tv news like 6abc its a churn and burn set up. Kerri-Lee is maxed out now on the 5-6 and 10 pm news. Her contract was just renewed this year... perhaps at best a 2 year deal. I hope she does not expect a pay raise. If she does she is gone. If they can find someone for 70% of what they pay her she will be replaced just like dawn was replaced.
