Bill Cosby to perform for Temple gymnastics team

Bill Cosby, a noted Temple University alum and booster, will host an intimate evening of stand up to support the Temple men's gymnastics team on Thursday, August 14. The team will now function as club team as of this month, relying on its own fundraising efforts, after the team was cut from Temple's officlal athletic roster in December of last year.

Available tickets for the 200-seat event, taking place at in the Ballroom of the Independence Visitor Center (1 North Independence Mall W) range in price from $175 to $300. Premium ticket holders will be able to participate in a meet and greet with the entertainment giant after the event. Tickets can be purchased here.

The Daily News' Tom Mahon spoke with coach Fred Turoff, who said he reached out to Cosby about helping. Turoff said he also as in talks with former Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com owner Lewis Katz before his death in May.
