Power 99 morning host Tarsha Jones, better known as Jonesy, has been fired from the radio station.

Loraine Ballard Morrill, a Clear Channel Radio spokeswoman, confirms only that Jonesy is "no longer an employee of Clear Channel Philadelphia.

Her termination comes less than a week after a lawsuit filed in Common Pleas Court by Tracey Parson, who says she and her Kiddie Kare day care business were repeatedly defamed by the radio host in October. The Daily News reported last week on the lawsuit about which Jonesy declined comment.

Jones, who calls herself the "Most controversial diva in radio, formerly worked on 100.3 The Beat and had been suspended over comments about Whitney Houston's family. At Hot 97 in New York she was suspended over "The Tsunami Song," a parody of the tsunami that devastated Sri Lanka.

In February, Jonesy took a call from a listener who claimed to be pregnant with NFL star Chad Ochocinco and later the station posted a photo of a different woman, not the caller, who was not pregnant. That situation also led to a suit.

The controversial figure, yet one with high ratings, hosted at the Beat from November 2002 to May 2004, when she was fired, and syndicated her Hot 97 show on the Beat from November 2007 to July 2008.

She started at Power 99 in late 2009.

Jonesy did not immediately return a request for comment this afternoon.

Her termination was first reported this morning on Radio-Info.com.

Good riddance to trash. Here's hoping that other stations get the message that she's trouble and a legal liability.

glad she's gone, but she'll land on her feet because she pulls ratings. FYI: Ratings = $

until you're spending that cash to settle numerous libel lawsuits, then she's a liability

Slander, actually. Libel is written stuff. And I'm surprised the FCC hasn't fined her for her language.

I'm a listener & I'm educated. Jonesy is a real person and has a heart of gold. I'm a student and I've listened to her since I was eleven-years-old - ten years to be exact. Why was I drawn to Jonesy? Because on one particular show she put her neck out to help a young women (in philly) who was being sexually abused by her step-father. I've listened to her faithfully ever since. Just because you guys don't like the content of the show doesn't mean it's "trash"; nor does it mean that the show and it's listeners are ignorant! Maybe you should stop passing judgement and take a long look in the mirror because no one's perfect. Also, as a dedicated listener to Jonesy, i'm offended by the terrible comments that are being made about the listeners. Who are any of you to pass judgement? No one special, just like the any other joe - that's who.

Being "EDUCATED" does not make you bright nor intelligent now and days. There any many DUMB eduMated youngsters like you so no one is impressed. Good luck paying back your student loans...
