After Dunn's death, Bam condemns drinking and driving. Mostly.

"This definitely woke me up. Coming from a "Jackass," I recommend to everybody, don't get behind the wheel if you've been drinking. Just don't," Bam Margera said Monday on 93.3 WMMR's Preston & Steve show.

Bam Margera is consoled by wife Missy after the funeral service of Ryan Dunn in West Chester June 22 ( (Steven M. Falk)

“This definitely woke me up. Coming from a “Jackass,” I recommend to everybody, don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking. Just don’t,” Bam Margera said Monday on 93.3 WMMR’s Preston & Steve show.

His wake up call of course was the death last week of his best friend and “Jackass” co-star Ryan Dunn, killed after crashing into a tree while drunkenly driving his Porsche approximately 130 m.p.h. on Rt. 322 in West Goshen.

“Whenever you’re drunk you think you’re not. If you even drink at all, don’t get behind the wheel,” said Margera, who sent mixed messages on the radio show as a few minutes earlier, he told Preston & Steve that “I would never drink and drive from now on. I might have a beer or two or whatever but I would never officially drink and drive.”

Last week Margera attacked film critic Roger Ebert for tweeting “Friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive,” hours after Dunn’s death was reported. Margera attacked Ebert again yesterday on the radio show without acknowledging that Ebert was right, even if his comments seemed too soon and hurtful.

Margera admitted Dunn was “always a full-blown nut in a car,” and that on one Lamborghini race “I had to hold both handles tensing up the whole time cause he drives like such a maniac.”

The Chester County skateboarder turned daredevil, Margera, said he thought his cell phone was going to explode from so many text messages of sympathy including one from Brad Pitt.

Margera said he’s not sure about the fate of “Moustache Riders,” a film planned for him,  Dunn, Johnny Knoxville and Willie Nelson but he hopes to still make it with another actor.

theeman1 - Lighten up and stop taking things so seriously. I am going to recommend that you take a summer course like Satirical Blogging 101. It will really help you recognize the differences between being sardonic and being self-righteous.

yes "unofficial" as in having a glass of wine or beer with dinner at a restaurant. get over your self-righteous selves. As for Bam, I agree with the rest, what is the point of coming out against DUI after the fact...now you are a changed man all of a sudden?

If it only took losing a best friend to get a text, I would be willing to lose a friend for that text.

How to get out of a DUI from The Bam Margera Playbook - "Gee, officer. Yeah, I had an illegitimate beer or two at this unsanctioned establishment. It was totally off the records though. I was only UNOFFICIALLY drinking and driving. It's not illegal or dangerous if one only UNOFFICIALLY drinks and drives." Well one thing is official: Bam is a certified tool.

Speaking out about drinking and driving AFTER the guy is killed is the same as speaking out binge eating after you weigh in @ 450.
Thought he and his wife were done?

What would people be saying if all they knew about this guy was that he had a ridiculous number of driving citations for speeding and reckless driving over the years and now took out s friend by drinking and speeding.

"Brad Pitt texted me...I was like whoa...but all he had to do was get my number from Spike Jonze" What a name dropping tool. WOW. Such a shame that this guy has all that money...just a GD shame.

How about "I might have a beer or two, but if I do I'm gonna try to keep the speed down below 120?" Most people are quick to criticize DUI (rightly so), but many of us are equally quick to drive as fast as we think we can get away with. How about we all take something useful out of all of this and slow down just a bit out there? Thanks.
