With Philadelphia courts opening up in a few hours, the countdown has begun to an expected wrongful termination suit from Alycia Lane against CBS 3. The station fired Lane yesterday afternoon and, as we reported in yesterday's column, she has enlisted attorney Paul Rosen, who issued a statement yesterday calling the termination unfair, and who is believed to have a lawsuit ready to file.

Rosen's appearance in the matter seemed to delay Lane's firing by a couple of days, but not prevent the action. CBS3 President Michael Colleran confirmed yesterday that the station told Lane of its intent to dismiss her on New Year's Day. After that meeting, Lane hired Rosen.

Here's Daily News columnist Jenice Armstrong's take about Alycia, titled "She could use some therapy."

There are enough bad things that can happen to cops while on duty without worrying about a pompous news reporter assaulting one b/c she wasn’t recognized in a matter that she felt deemed appropriate for someone of her “star power”. As a wife of a cop, I certainly don’t want someone like Alycia Lane reporting news about my husband. Go ahead and sue. The people of Philadelphia will never let you back into their good graces.

She'll just make a bigger idiot out of herself in front of the people of this city. Sorry honey, looks can only take you so far.

I always thought of Alicia Lane as an intelligent person who obviously was on top of the world with a great job!! If she files a lawsuit, shame on her! Alicia made her choice to embarass herself not to mention the CBS NEWS Station she worked for!!!

I look forward to saving the train fare to NYC so that I can shoot Alycia entering a court house.

I always thought of Alicia Lane as a woman with the smarts and know how, that got her where she was, on top of the world with a great job!! Alicia made her choice to embarass not only herself, but the CBS NEWS STATION she worked for! If Alicia follows through with her lawsuit, shame on her!!!

Yeah, she's going to be a really sympathetic plaintiff. A bunch of riff-raff from the city will feel sorry for her for losing her privileged lifestyle that is based on nothing but mediocre looks, make-up, and beneficial lighting. She's dumb. Maybe she can work at The Gap. In the bikini section.

Her innocence in the felony matter has nothing to do with whether the company may terminate her contract. She's drawn too much negative attention to herself. She should have stayed in the cab, and she shouldn't have called Fast Eddie. She's a public relations liability for the station.

It's amazing the number of people who think the courts exist to decide what's "right". The simple fact is that if she had a "behavior" clause, and was fired before any claims of bad behavior were adjudicated, then she will win. Look for this lawsuit to be filed, and then settled. She'll get her money. CBS has simply decided that the financial hit for a settlement will be less than the potential losses from bad publicity, loss of viewers, and advertisers.

the bikini picture of her doing a headstand with her legs spread is priceless, I hope she puts it in her portfolio for her next job

She was bound to have some type of clause that protects the station against this. A morals clause that she broke or something along those lines...cause they wouldn't just fire her for some rash reason. She was all over the papers in a bad way...
