Following in their parents' footsteps, thousands of spider-sized toadlets have begun the amphibians' annual trek from the Roxborough Reservoir to their new woodland homes. To ensure their safe passage, volunteers have set up road blocks to detour traffic in the area from 7 to 9 pm, when most of the toadlets, swarm like insects, across the terrain.

"I had to be careful not to step on several with each stride," says Rich Giordano, Vice President of the Upper Roxborough Civic Association.

Based on last year's journey, the roads will be detoured until the migration ends around June 20.
