Rollins, Victorino Win Gold Gloves

Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 4:21 PM
Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino have just been announced as 2008 Gold Glove award winners. Rollins became the first Phillies player to win back-to-back Gold Gloves since Scott Rolen in 2000-01. He also became the first Phillies shortstop to win back-to-back Gold Gloves. This was Victorino's first... Read more

Dollars and Sense

Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 3:17 PM
Let's get back to Pat Burrell for a second. I get the sense the Phillies want Jamie Moyer and Scott Eyre back. Ruben Amaro Jr. already has said pitching is a priority, and Moyer and Eyre would be a good place to start. Burrell? I think the Phillies would like Burrell back, but only at their price.... The Phillies have fired third base coach Steve Smith. This did not come as a complete surprise. I had heard rumblings that Charlie Manuel wasn't happy with Smith's job performance. Smith was a last-minute hire before the 2007 season after Art Howe abruptly quit to become the bench coach with the Texas... Read more

Phillies on SI

Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 3:53 PM
The Phillies are featured in this week's Sports Illustrated, although this might just be a regional cover because there also is a cover that features the NFL midseason report. So if you're in Arizona or Colorado or Illinois, I wonder which one you will get? Read more

Amaro to Be Named Tonight

Sunday, November 2, 2008, 5:04 PM
The Phillies will name Ruben Amaro Jr. their general manager tonight, a source confirmed. A news conference will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow. The Inquirer wrote Monday that Amaro was expected to be named Pat Gillick's replacement 24 to 48 hours within the final out of the World Series or after Gillick's... Read more
