POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 4:40 PM

Here are the lineups for Game 1 of the World Series at Tropicana Field:

Phillies

  1. Jimmy Rollins, SS
  2. Jayson Werth, RF
  3. Chase Utley, 2B
  4. Ryan Howard, 1B
  5. Pat Burrell, LF
  6. Shane Victorino, CF
  7. Pedro Feliz, 3B
  8. Chris Coste, DH
  9. Carlos Ruiz, C

Cole Hamels is on the mound.

Rays

  1. Akinori Iwamura, 2B
  2. B.J. Upton, SS
  3. Carlos Pena, 1B
  4. Evan Longoria, 3B
  5. Carl Crawford, LF
  6. Willy Aybar, DH
  7. Dioner Navarro, C
  8. Ben Zobrist, RF
  9. Jason Bartlett, SS

Scott Kazmir is on the mound.

Not a shocker that Coste is DH-ing. He is the best righthanded bat on the bench

Fox's ratings will be through the roof in Fargo N.D. market.

Great lineup. With Vic at 6 and Coste at 8, could be very interesting. everyone have their good luck charms out and ready?

I like Coste at DH, he could be that Phillies player that comes through for them tonight. Side note: I looked at two different shops in Tampa for Phillies merchandise, no deal... Lids did have a couple hats left and they said they sold a few today, but no other merchandise for the Phillies at Sports Authority right in Tampa! They practically booed me and my Mrs. when we asked. They did have hundreds of hats for the Rays and Tshirts though, but no Phillies stuff at all.

Great start. Loved Utley's HR, loved how Shane went for home, and showed speed and agresiveness. Even Howard made a smart play giving up the out at first to avoid running over Hamels. GOPHILS

They should do half the game Coste and half dobbs. Why not? Coste can't hit the FAST BALL.

Coste really does look overmatched. Hopefully, he'll come around. I love how McCarver had no idea what Maddon was talking about when he said Hamels "doesn't read." Now, I have no idea what he means either, but when Joe Buck asked McCarver, he totally was caught cold and just went with the standard balk definition. Nice insight... not.

Howard butchered another ball at first, but on a good note, he finally made the pickoff relay to Jimmy at 2nd. He has a chance to really come through right now with a full count and Chase on 3rd... nope. Howell played him like a fiddle with that low outside ball.

Am I the only one who thinks the whole cowbell thing is incredibly stupid?? Look at those idiots. Burrell works a great walk and now Shane has a chance to provide a very important insurance run or two. Make him work, Shane!

OK, it's all on our pitching and defense now. Would be great to pick up a run in the 8th or 9th, but can't count on that.

I'm not exactly sure when Ryan Madson turned from mild-mannered mediocre middle reliever into stud setup man, but dang, I like it. Now let's add a drun or two, hand the lead to Lights Out Lidge and call it a night!

Manual and Milt should have been working with Howard every day for the last week. He looks completly lost up there.

One down, three to go, boys and girls. Winning the first game in each post-season series is a huge lift and I think we can offically call Cole Hamels an Ace. No timely hitting for the first time in the playoffs but I think that will turn around and we got the win, which is most important. Let's get another tomorrow. GO PHILS!!!

why not make Burrell the DH and that way he does not have to be removed for defensive replacement late in the game. Have Bruntlett or Jenkins play out there during the game. Also leaves Coste on the bench for pinch hitting or to replace Ruiz if necessary

PHILS WIN GAME 1!! YAHOO!! (Now if they can just improve with RISP?!) Nice to Utley with a 1st inning HR! Hamels just sensational! 3 MORE TO GO! GO PHILS!!

What a great win. Pitching wins championships. Only two mistakes made by the Phils tonight - both with Ryan Howard. But they were cancelled out and meant nothing. No more home field advantage for the cowbells! Yeah!!!
