Will Dubee split the lefties?

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Rich Dubee will often chide those who make inferences from his pitching schedule. But usually, the piece of paper he tacks to the board in the middle of the Phillies clubhouse is a good view into the pitching coach's mind.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Rich Dubee will often chide those who make inferences from his pitching schedule. But usually, the piece of paper he tacks to the board in the middle of the Phillies clubhouse is a good view into the pitching coach's mind.

And right now, Dubee's schedule indicates he could split up his lefthanded starters, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels.

Dubee, as usual, played coy.

"Don't know yet," he said. "There's off days built in there all over the place. I don't know, you tell me. We'll see."

Roy Halladay will pitch Sunday, which would put him in line to pitch March 30 in Tampa against the Yankees under Friday night lights. He then could start opening day April 5 on an extra day of rest.

If the Phillies split Lee and Hamels, Vance Worley would start the final game in Pittsburgh, leaving the home opener April 9 for Hamels.

For now, here's this weeks' pitching schedule:

Thursday at TOR
Cliff Lee
Chad Qualls
Jose Contreras
Kyle Kendrick (minor-league game)

Friday vs. NYY
Vance Worley
David Herndon
Mike Stutes
Jonathan Papelbon

Saturday at BOS
Cole Hamels
Chad Qualls
Antonio Bastardo

Sunday (SS) vs. BAL
Roy Halladay
Mike Stutes
Jonathan Papelbon
Jose Contreras

Sunday (SS) at DET
Scott Elarton
David Herndon

Monday vs. BOS
Joe Blanton
Antonio Bastardo
Chad Qualls

Tuesday vs. PIT
Cliff Lee
Kyle Kendrick
Mike Stutes
Jonathan Papelbon
