Nothing else has worked, so why not? Charlie Manuel will bat Jayson Werth leadoff for Wednesday's series finale against Atlanta.
Werth will play centerfield as Shane Victorino gets a day off. Carlos Ruiz also has the day off. Ben Francisco gets a start in rightfield against a righty, Derek Lowe.
The Phillies have scored 13 runs in their last 10 games.
The lineup:
1. Jayson Werth
2. Wilson Valdez
3. Chase Utley
4. Ryan Howard
5. Ben Francisco
6. Raul Ibanez
7. Greg Dobbs
8. Brian Schneider
9. Kyle Kendrick

What about Ryan Howard laying a bunt down third when they have that shift on and nobody playing third? cartoong98
@ Serge_Matthews: "...why is Wilson Valdez batting 2nd..." The more important question is why is he even on the team?! I know SS has been hit with injuries but you're telling me this is the best RAJ can do? I can see if J-Roll was out a week. J-Roll's missed and will miss huge chunks of the regular season, how about someone a little more serviceable? DennyP
Cancel that parade in November. Slugfoot
This hurts too much!! Somebody please stop the pain! Aaaaagggggghhhh! cleansports- I kinda like the idea of Werth hitting leadoff...at least he works a count, unlike Vic. Too bad Howard will never, ever see another fastball while he's there.
