The Phillies have activated outfielder Jayson Werth from the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. They have outrighted outfielder Chris Snelling to triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room for Werth on the 25-man roster.

Snelling, who is out of options, has three days to accept or reject the assignment. If he rejects it, he becomes a free agent. It's expected that Snelling accepts the assignment because he is being paid a guaranteed $450,000 this season. If he would become a free agent, he would lose the contract and likely would be paid the big-league minimum by another team.
