Werth: 'I hate the Phillies'

Are you concerned about Chase Utley’s spring training shutdown?
Yes. He’s hurt already?
No. He’ll be ready by the opener.

Jayson Werth may have turned whatever cheers he would receive in his return to Citizens Bank Park into boos.

The Washington Post's Tom Boswell wrote about Werth in Sunday's paper. Here is an excerpt:

Once Werth got back behind the cage, Rizzo said, "I hate the [expletive] Phillies." The GM then ran off a list of borderline dirty plays and purpose pitches in recent years by the Nats' nemesis. "I hate the Phillies, too," said Werth. Unspoken, but hanging in the air was a new idea for the Nats: So, let's play more like the Phillies: mean, grimy and a little nasty.

This quote from the article says it all: "A seven-year deal for a player who's past 30 and has never had 100 RBI could be a catastrophe."

Maybe he should stop thinking about the Phillies an concern himself with the Nats. As I said before in two to three years when the Nats give up on him he will be a traded at the deadline to a team with money.

Much ado about nothing. The article is about Werth bringing a bit of 'tude' to the Nats' clubhouse. I was surprised at the "borderline" insinuation about how the Philllies play ball, and that Boswell would write such drivel, but in DC I guess you have to do something to get the fans out of their coma.

Took the money and ran. He hates the Phils for paying Lee rather than him. Boo hoo.

Please, Phillies Fans, don't let this stupid article affect you! The writer is just trying to create a fake storyline for when the Nationals come to town! Watch for it-- what an easy, prepared article.
I'll be cheering Werth's first at bat, just like everyone else in the stands.

Way to go Werth. Tell these loser fans off. They are nothing but of morons at the games anyway. Worst fans in baseball. Good luck this year with your team. I hope you beat these losers and make them all go home crying.

Just a bunch of losers Philly is. Always are and always will be! Thats why so many people talk about how bad Philly fans suck. So rude to others when their teams loss. I think its funny when their teams never make it to the big dance and win it. That includes the Eagles.

Werth was a good, and at times very good, player for us. We should respect what he did as a Phillie, and I'm sure we will when he comes back to town. But, he's no superstar, the Nats way overpaid him and, if he's saying he hates now, to try and gain some competitive edge, I kind of respect that. I also think he meant it a bit facetiously.

Which Nationals player's girlfriend or wife will he sleep with first?
