Tuesday's game postponed
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
DENVER -- The game between the Phillies and Rockies has been postponed due to heavy rain and snow in the area.
A split doubleheader has been scheduled for Wednesday. Game 1 will begin at 3:10 p.m. EST and Game 2 is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. EST. But the forecast for Wednesday isn't much better with snow predicted for much of the Denver area.
It's possible the Phillies could have three days in a row off. Thursday is a scheduled off day before a three-game series in Milwaukee begins Friday.
No word on pitching probables. About to head downstairs to check it out.
UPDATE 8:41 p.m.: Roy Halladay will start Game 1 against Aaron Cook as scheduled. Jamie Moyer will start Game 2 against Jason Hammel.
- They need to move this franchise to a baseball climate city! SNOW IN MAY, ain't cool. larryv
Rain and snow in Denver; UGH. So what happens to Halladay's start now; does he get skipped over and not pitch Wednesday? Geez the weather is working against us. We need our stopper every 5th day; Halladay should start Wed. if the snow stops falling. waynermartin
There goes the Halladay-Sabathia matchup on June 15 at Yankee Stadium. bigeastbeast- Spahn, Sain, and rain. pedge
Before anyone asks, the Rockies are playing the Nationals on Thursday. If tomorrow's games are postponed,Halladay may miss the Yankee series entirely. bigeastbeast
They should require this team to build a dome or retractable dome. Every time the Rockies make the playoffs weather is an issue. cnova000- Move the games to the Rogers Centre in Toronto (Jays are away now)!
It snows, it's weather, no big deal. DennisAtwell
Comment removed.
Should get interesting if they are rained/snowed out tomorrow. Where & when do you make up 2 games vs the Rockies. Crammed schedule? montco1
I agree completely with cnova000,a Dome is a must Da Nuck

FYI everybody - Phillippe Aumont has a 6.08 era with 22 BB in 26.1 innings at AA Reading; Tyson Gillies is batting .247 with 2 HR and 6 RBI with Reading; Cliff Lee threw 7.1 innings tonight, giving up 1 ER - his ERA now stands at 2.01 through three starts. Just the facts. - This season could very well come down to 'what if?' I have to believe Rube knows he screwed this one up. twothousandeight
If tomorrow's games are postponed, they may very well have to make them up in Philly as a double header with the Rockies as the home team on August 9th. It's the first open date for both teams where they'll be in the same time zone. Colorado is travelling from Pittsburgh to New York, and the Phils have an off day on the homestand between the Mets and Dodgers. I know the player's union has some pretty interesting rules on travelling across time zones and number of consecutive days on which games are played. Otherwise it may be Sept 2nd in Colorado which might help the pitching with the expanded rosters. Phils are heading home from L.A. for an off day and Colorado has an off day between San Diego and San Francisco. That would mean 25 games in 23 days though for the Phils and I doubt the union will let that happen. Joe_Blow
I just got back home from Coors Field... felt just like an October World Series game in Philadelphia. Let's not get into Dome discussions... Michael in Denver
