Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock
The clock is ticking toward today's 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline. Ooooh, it's so exciting!
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

Hey, anybody know when the trade deadline is?
Oh, it's today?
At 4 o'clock?
Thanks, I hadn't heard that. Jim Salisbury takes a look at what's on the table for the Phillies, and what's not on the table. Not on the table: Manny Ramirez. On the table: a lefthanded reliever. Keep an eye on San Francisco's Jack Taschner, Kansas City's Ron Mahay and Pittsburgh's John Grabow. Pat Gillick would like to improve the bullpen for the stretch run, and he seems to think a trade is possible -- though not probable. Phillies fans might have to settle for Joe Blanton, whom the Phillies acquired during the all-star break.

Jamie Moyer pitched well again last night in an 8-5 victory over the Nationals, which put the Phillies back in first place in the National League East.

So because Jimmy Rollins didn't talk to reporters over the weekend in Philadelphia, everybody assumed that Rollins is fuming over his benching last week in New York. But Rollins said that isn't the case. He said his relationship with Charlie Manuel is fine, and the past is the past.
"If there was a rift, I think it would affect the team," Rollins said. "I'm not going to affect the team in that way. It's not even worth it. For what? What would come of it?"

In the Phillies Notebook: the trade deadline, including Pudge Rodriguez, and Kyle Drabek returns to the mound and more.
Well I sure as hell hope if the Rays are looking at Werth that they plan on giving us an outfielder back. If Jenkins plays more I'm jumping off the Walt Whitman. Matt
Should we trade Werth?? jeff gross
Trade Werth for Matt Holliday or Jayson Bay. Obviously you'd have to include others. But not for a lefthanded releiver. Like I said, the less we see of Geoff Jenkins the better. Ed Wade may take Seanez and Jenkins, he's an idiot. Matt
This is according to Baseball Prospectus, the Phillies and Dodgers are supposedly still trying to get Ramirez. The Phillies reportedly offering Brett Myers, Jason Werth, and cash to get the guy who has been pals with Phillies manager Charlie Manuel since they both worked in Cleveland together. L.A. would supposedly include Matt Kemp in the deal. timm
I was thinking Wade tading that trade when i said only an idiot would do it. I'm not sure if I'd include anyone else with Werth for Bay. With the W Sox getting Jr., they have outfielders to trade. Do I smell a second deal in Chicago? jeff gross
They should add a prospect. Manny gets the Phils into the NLCS. No other player on the market (besides Holliday) is capable of doing that. Frank Lloyd Wrong
I'd trade Werth, Myers and a prospect for Manny if that's true. I don't know if that makes the Red Sox any better. So they probably wouldn't do it. Matt
I'm in St. Louis. They're definitely talking about moving Lohse. hunsinator
jeff - I was saying trade Jenkins and Seanez for Lohse. It's on par with the Farnsworth for Rodriguez trade NY just made. I was responding to your own comment. scotty82
jeff gross.....***HUGS*** to you!!!! LOL! And I really liked what I saw in Chris Snelling in Clearwater. And in the short time he was up early in the season. clinton, nj, seems to think I "jinxed" him when he was sent back down, so I worry about the boy. LOL! Norma
While I am as disapointed in Myers as anyone else is, do we really want to trade next year's set up man (Gordon is done) for Manny who is Iverson in pinstripes? He'll ruin the clubhouse, be an awful influence on Rollins and Howard, and may not be back next year (20 Million option). Personally, I don't trade for anyone who doesn't pitch lefthander out of a Bullpen or is a number 1 or 2 starter jeff gross
your "Jinxing" powers are well known Norma. Can you Jinx the Mets and Fish for us please?? jeff gross
Scotty, While I would make that trade in a second, I don't think the Cards would. They might as well just give him to us for free.... jeff gross
We need a top hitter. Happ was brought up to start, which means Myers is outta here. He can be the setup man Boston needs. I'd rather trade Jenkins and a prospect than Werth, but do what it takes. Hopefully Gillick isn't taking a nap scotty82
I think he was kidding Jeff. butchman68
