Nice to have another "good guy" in the clubhouse. I know I know...we could have had...blah blah blah. Thome will pay dividends.

Jim's awesome. We know that. Every baseball fan in America knows that. I just hope he can play and doesn't suffer a career ending injury while playing first base.

Change your photo caption of Thome in the club house. It states "former Phillie Jim Thome." Did the sports dept. forget that the Phillies signed him in November???

Bob Brookover looks like he's ready to play some 1B this year. The pilates and yoga have paid off Bob.

Amazing how Thome had a .200 batting average with RISP doing his previous Phillies career and people act like he's some type of savior!

He's a great guy. But to me this was more of a PR move that anything after being eliminated in the 1st round with so much promise with the Cliff signing and the 4 aces hoopla this time last year.

I would pay a year's earnings to see Jim Thome doing Yoga. He is a first-ballot future Hall of Famer and is doing everything he can to regain the flexibility to play first base. Giving the extra effort is so typical of this dedicated athlete. If nothing else, he will be an example to a kid like Domomick Brown who thought all he had to do was put on his uniform and it would all come together for him. Thome can still give the other manager nightmares worrying about a late inning appearance and who will pitch to him. He never hit for average but when he does hit one, it stays hit! His presence will win a few games; his bat will win a few, and I wouldn't be surpised if he even wins one with his glove!

Well now we can stop worring. The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. But behold, the Lord has given AGAIN. Are you kidding me. This is great to have Thome back. He has ALWAYS been a team player and that is the only kind of guys we want here in Philly. We don't need "Stars" we need guys to go do the best they can each and every day. And if you cann't stop laughing at the thought of Thome doing Yoga, then maybe you should try it. It's not easy to do and commit to it even when people are laughing at you. LOL.... my hat is off to you MR. Thome. You have come back to a GREAT team and a lot go great guys. You will fit in and please help the other "NEW" guys learn quickly.... THIS IS THE "TEAM" TO BE A PART OF!!!!
God bless you all and "Lets Go Phillies"

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
