The Hot Dog (4) won the Sausage Race today at Miller Park.I picked the Polish Sausage (2) after its strong showing Tuesday night at Miller Park, but the Hot Dog (4) won the famous Sausage Race today -- beating the Italian Sausage by a casing.

Freakin' Hot Dog.

Also pictured are the Bratwurst (1), Chorizo (5) and Italian (3).

Jayson Werth hit a solo homer to center field in the sixth inning to tie the game, 1-1. Werth has hit safely in 11 of his 13 starts this season. He entered today hitting .291 (15 for 51) with three homers and seven RBIs in his previous 12 starts. He's doing a nice job in the leadoff spot for Jimmy Rollins, who is scheduled to take BP today in Clearwater.

Rollins is recovering from a SPRAINED ankle.

Zo, you must have something wrong with your keyboard. The typing in front of the word ankle seems slightly different from the rest. You clearly must be part of the cover up.

I guess sitting Howard down to give him a break and a chance to set himself right meant 7 innings. After which he struck out twice. Sometimes Charlie's thinking baffles the mind...... ok alot of times.

i like my hot dogs with relish and ketchup... what do you do when the once hated, get him out of here as soon as possible, Pat Burrell leads the league in RBI's, consistently hitting in clutch situations day in and day out. i'm proud to say i drafted him in the 15th round of our fantasy draft.

I heard Ryan Howard was going to have a cameo on the show "LOST". What's up??? Bullpen has been outstanding, great job again today. Take 2 of 3 in Pittsbugh and Cole will beat his hometown team when they get back to CBP!

No doubt, Zo is part of a great media conspiracy, plotted by the team. Truth has been the only one to recognize it. Why haven't the rest of us seen it? We are lackeys to the corrupt Phillies front office. I'd post more but I have join Truth and monitor the Area 54 site, to see what the aliens are up to today.

Typical CLASSLESS Jimmymack. Where's your friend Cupcake? When will YOU pathetic Phillies fans learn that the JRoll broken ankle story is just another example of the liberal media - and I count you as one of them, Zo - tries to distract and placate the "simple" masses with tall tales of brats and knockwurst. I PITY that Chorizo and his mustache from Woodys!

jimmymack, remember to watch out for the guy on the grassy knoll! Unreal how well the bullpen has pitched. All's forgiven with Burrell, right?

I thought being *benched* means *sitting on the bench*. How is giving Ryan two at-bats to pinch hit helping? Let him SIT two games, then let him pinch hit in the next game, and see how he does.

I thought Jamie had a great game, too! Only one run and TWO pick-offs. One of my friends, that goes to the games with me, doesn't like Jamie. Thinks he's "too old" HA! Did he get a scathing email from me today! LOL!

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Follow him on Twitter here.

Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
