Not to rehash the past, but did anyone else feel Rollins was a bit too nonchalant with his play of Luna's groundball Saturday night? This was the play where Ryan dropped the ball on Rollins' throw to first with the Jays scoring a run on the play. The official scorer changed the play to an earned run because Luna would've beaten the play even had Howard held onto the ball. My point, though, is that Rollins was WAY too casual on the play, pumping two-three times before throwing the ball. I love Rollins but this is a perfect example of how he sometimes takes it easy on plays and ends up costing the Phils. This was an everyday, basic groundball to shortstop which Rollins turned into a single. It should have been an error on Rollins and then an error on Howard for dropping the ball.

Rollins is dogging it because he is unhappy with his contract. He wants MVP money. ;) (SBFL!)

I didnt see the play MrPhillie, sorry. Well so far 2nite Howard and Burrell are 0-4 with men on 1st and 2nd. Myers is about to implode! Howard still stinks and Burrell is joining him!!!

I read a blurb in the Inquirer a cple wks ago and the citizen briefer stated that Gary Matthews talks to much---He was 100% correct. The play by play guy just ignores him and rightfully so.

I've said all along I hope they trade Howard, not for the Phillies sake but his own. Obviously, he's not happy here. I don't think he's a slow starter, he had a great spring training. I think he is doing pretty much what I assumed he would. Thats not purposefully tanking but a subconscious thing where his mind takes over his body as a result of being disrespected by this franchise for the last 5 yrs. Norma, no I do not have a "man crush" on Howard, I'm just a man that knows when a fellow man has been abused and mistreated. Posted by Truth What the heck are you talking about? Truth, you are such a wacko! So Howard is tanking it? And you think you predicted it? I dont think Howard would ever tank it, he is just embarassing himself, and his worth is dropping with every strikeout. If he didnt suck so much right now, he wouldnt be getting booed. So its an easy fix, just start doing what your getting paid for, and thats actually hitting the baseball!!

This team sucks right now! They cant hit at all! They got their full team back and they are stinking up the place. They get a decent start from Myers and leave TWENTY men on base and get shutout, PATHETIC!!!!!! Charlie boy has to get these guys going, they were nearing 7 or 8 games over .500 and now they are two over. They are too good to be playing like this!

And if history serves us right, Burrell wont start hitting again until July or so, just great!

I thought Myers had a decent outing, too. Like I've said before....It just doesn't seem like we can mesh our hitting with our pitching. At least Chase got a couple of hits. Maybe he, at least, is coming out of his slump. Now if Howard would just be more consistant....and Pat would start hitting again.....maybe we wouldn't leave so many on in scoring position!

CLINTON NJ: Regarding Burrell, you are probably correct. Throughout his career, Burrell has had many hot Aprils and then gone cold in May and June(and a few times for the rest of the season. Back in 2006, Manuel sat him a lot in May and June. He came back in July and finished the season strong. Maybe it's time to sit him at least 50% of the time now and let Werth, and even Taguchi, get more time.******Best case for the Phils regarding Howard is to trade him before they make the huge mistake of signing him to a long term contract. They need Howard to be much more productive than this if they hope to get anything substantial in return. Hopefully Howard can get hot through June and July then, depending on where the Phils are in the playoff race, they can trade him before the deadline. It's funny, the Phils can't use Howard if he's not producing but nobody else is going to give up much to get him in that case. Also it would seem very strange to trade a guy who is producing but the Phils better make the move as soon as a good opportunity presents itself. Not only is Howard's production slipping badly but the production we do get is very inconsistent. Can't commit megabucks for that.

Can we trade Myers and Madson? It seems Madson ALWAYS gives up a run when he pitches. The organization should have never labeled Madson as a Reliever. He should have been put in the rotation years ago.

Agree about Madson - 1 run every 2 innings. Bank on it.

Interesting if not very talented list(besides Foxx and Lajoie). Forget about RPs before 1960. Rps before that were starters with no jobs ie backups. Starting Pitchers used to complete a lot more games than they do now. That's the biggest change in baseball over the years expect perhaps the actual baseballs that are obviously made better now. That plus the smaller strike zone and the inability of pitchers to brush back hitters without causing a brawl have made it so easy to just sit back and wait for a HR. The game has changed and in my opinion, not for the better. "Little ball' is dead.
