Sunday's game moved to Saturday

POSTED: Thursday, August 25, 2011, 2:22 PM

Which Phillie — Vance Worley or John Mayberry — has impressed you the most?
Worley. It’s tough to look good next to the Four Aces, but he has.
Mayberry. With his hot bat, he could be the left fielder of the future.

In anticipation of severe weather from Hurricane Irene, the Phillies have moved their game scheduled for Sunday to Saturday afternoon.

The Phillies and Marlins will play a day-night doubleheader Saturday. Game 1 is at 1:05 p.m. and Roy Halladay will start that. Game 2 is 7:05 p.m., which will be started by Cliff Lee.

Halladay will start with an extra day of rest. Lee is pitching on regular rest.

The schedule is especially taxing for Florida, which will play three doubleheaders in the span of six days.

Of course, playing two Saturday is still a risky proposition. Different forecast models show the rains entering the Philadelphia area sometime Saturday night.

All tickets for Sunday's game will be honored for entry to Saturday's day game. Both games will be televised on PHL17.

They're dreaming. Saturday night's game will be rained out. They should play two tomorrow because Saturday's day game is not a sure thing either...

Marlins don't play today, so they may already be on their way to Philly. I don't see why they can't play 2 tomorrow.

You can thank Bush and the Republicans for their utter failure to address global warming. If you are unable to go to the game, Bush is to blame.

It is impossible to play a twinight doubleheader in Philly because they sell out every game. You cannot let both games' ticketholders in at the same time because there would be 60-65k+ people in the stadium. I would guess at least half of the seats are not season ticket holders that buy 81 game packages and attend every game.

Both teams are off Sept 15 too, but MLB limits the amount of consecutive days a club can play, if they played 9/15, that'll be there 21st game in a row, with no other scheduled days off. Let's increase tix prices and build a dome

Why do stadiums in the northeast not have retractable roofs? That was the biggest oversight when they built the stadiums.

Have you ever been in a retractable roof stadium? They are horrible. Unless you absolutely need it, there's no reason to build one.
