ATLANTA — In keeping with the promise of bullpen tryouts, the Phillies will add two more unproven arms from the minors for September looks.

Lefthander Jake Diekman and righthander Justin De Fratus were both recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley and will be available Sunday. That puts the Phillies' active roster at 28.

The IronPigs were eliminated from postseason contention Saturday, thus the Phillies started digging into their team.

Both Diekman and De Fratus have major-league experience. Diekman, 25, pitched in 23 games earlier this season until control issues dictated a demotion. De Fratus, 24, appeared in five games last September and was expected to play a role in 2012 until elbow problems derailed much of his season.

Diekman's penchant for walks continued once in the minors again. In 12 outings for triple A after being optioned, he struck out 15 and walked 10 in 11 1/3 innings. His ERA was 3.18.

De Fratus has displayed pinpoint command in limited action this season. He has 22 strikeouts against three walks for a 2.49 ERA in 21 2/3 innings. He did not start pitching for Lehigh Valley until July.

The bullpen now consists of nine pitchers — five righties (Papelbon, Lindblom, Rosenberg, Aumont, De Fratus) and four lefties (Bastardo, Horst, Valdes, Diekman).

It'll be interesting to see how the innings are managed and who pitches in what situations.
