The St.Petersburg Times has reported that a fan has accused J.C. Romero of assault. The fan, 25-year-old Robert Eaton told the Times that he asked Romero for an autograph after Thursday’s game, and was refused. He then said he made a comment about steroids, and Romero assaulted him.

This is what Romero said:

“What did he say? That he was drunk and got into a fight? I’m not going to comment on it. I’m trying to be professional and I don’t really want to get into that. Don’t want to make a story out of nothing. .”

There's not enough time in the day to count all the players who hated Bowa and LaRussa, two of the biggest egotists in sports.

Hey, P even, Maddy did spell morons (plural) correctly, though his grammar is on a second-grade level. I agree with mick 314. Why would I want some piece of paper or whatever that some guy signed? On the Romero question, why don't we reserve judgment until we get more information? Jeez, people, judge lest ye be judged. Why are we so quick to judge without any real information?

Personally, I like when unruly fans get stomped by professional athletes. Some loudmouths need a dose of reality. You wouldn't curse someone in their face and expect no response in regular life, so don't expect less from a pro athlete. I hope J.C. ripped him a new one, because he deserved it.

mick314-I'll save you the suspense of waiting...I, as and adult, like to get the signatures of players for many reasons. 1) Just meeting the players that you pay to see and root for is to me, an honor. As much as I love baseball, I don't have the talent to play in MLB. So to meet your favorite players, have a photo taken with them, and have them sign my hat, bat, or a photo is of something of value to me. The interaction with them, even if it is only a brief minute, is something great. You can tell them how great you thought they'ed played, or talking to them about the umps, or just joking with them that you have money on them to hit a home run before the game while they are at warmups. I have a wooden bat that has everyones signature on it, except for Pat Burrell. I could never get him to sign...I remember asking Bowa if he was going to give the crowd a good show tonight, and he replied by saying, "It depends on if the umps have removed their heads from their @#$ from last night." This was back when the Expos were in last year before moving to Washington. Jim Thome, David Bell, Jimmmy Rollins, Marlon Byrd, Pat Burrell, Rheal Chormier, Kevin Millwood, Jon Lieber, Billy Wagner and others...

If I remember right, the dictionary has it as prima donna. But who knows? Maybe Merriam-Webster is wrong?

1.If the jackal was mouthing off he deserved to get popped, just shut up and take your medicine. 2.If JC throws punches like he throws pitches that left landed high and outside anyway, JC couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat.

To the guy who wonders why he never got punched out by Steve Garvey.....Simple...he had Cindy to go home to...and then he had women in every road city he visited. Punching YOU out was the last thing on his mind! :-)

Stop the Scott Rolen madness! He couldn't play for Bowa or Larussa (two very good baseball lifers)...what does that say about him?

How soon do you forget! In Scott's rookie year he was asked about the artificial turf at Vet Stadium. He said he liked natural turf better as it's easier to play on. He has had problems with his back & knew it may have an affect on his play. He said it later in his stay with the Phillies. Some media called him a complainer. Hmm? Scott talked about this years before & everyone understood his concern. Scott was a gamer! He dove at everything at 3B. Everyone loved him! He slide hard into 2B to break up plays. Everyone loved him! He hustled from 1B to 3B on a hit. Everyone loved him! He played hurt & was an example of a leader. Everyone loved him. He was concerned about the Phillies' commitment to winning and rightfully so! The Phillies were cheap with the team they were fielding! The owners & management knew that the fans would keep attending no matter how bad the team was! It seemed that the front office took an offense to Scott's concerns towards their commitment towards quality. We agreed! After the front office got upset with his comments very shortly the sports writers began to crucify him. Don't you remember the BAD teams & TRASH - HEAP players they obtained? Scott wanted to win! Curt Schilling wanted the owners to do more for the team. It seemed that the front office took an offense to that talk & soon the sports writers began to crucify him. Don't you remember the BAD teams & TRASH - HEAP players they obtained? Do you see a PATTERN! Scott wanted to stay. Curt wanted to stay. It was the the Management that caused them to leave. Remember the trades? What did we get back for them? Did the team want to spend money to keep Polanco? You know the answer to that (rememeber David Bell.) It was more important for the management to get rid of complainers then to spend money on scouting, training, & actually obtain good ball players. Before you quote the management's statements about these players you should try to remember what actually happened. How soon do you forget!

I may be the only one, but I cannot accept that supposed ADULTS ask professional athletes for autographs. Someonw please answer the following: of what value are they, and why would someone wish to obtain the signature of another person? I can understand little kids and hero worship, but cannot grasp why an adult would care to obtain one. I realize ther are a lot of experts who blog on here, including the great ElZorro, the distinguuished veteran, TBEAR, and the esteemed DRHeller, so I am anxious to source their vast knowledge.

There is no amount of excuses that makes what Romero did OK. Same as when they found substances in his urine. Players take abuse in every city they visit throughout the season. The players union spend a boatload of money and time telling these prima-donna meatheads to stay under control or it's going to cost them. This is no different, even if it's a Phillie.

Way to go, romes. Obviously cheapphillies is so cheap he can't afford to buy a paper and see how much the Phils have spent in the last several years. Rolen couldn't make it in "baseball heaven" in St. Lou. Seems he can't take it when managers like Bowa and LaRussa say he can play better than what he does. Rolen was a sure HOF'er until he thought he was too good to be coached. As for the Phils, they asked him to be patient for another year or so until they got the new park. He wouldn't so now he's in baseball limbo. You don't hear anyone talking about how great Scott Rolen is anymore.

Romes
Scott Rolen is now on his third team. If he's such a great guy then why did he get traded twice especially with the sort of talent he has? And LMAO at CheapPhillies. Nothing says "cheap" like a 135 million dollar payroll. Clown.

JC, God looks out for Morons and Drunks (something like that?) I have no idea how "celebs" put up with some of us loudmouths, but it seems some of them can't. How I never got punched out by Steve Garvey once is a credit to Steve Garvey. He was a better man than me.

Scott Rolen was a good guy??? Scott Rolen was no better than Terrell Owens. He complained his way out of Philly because he couldn't see the big picture. As far as this incident with Romero's concerned, if you really belive this fan, who was probably a Rays fan--after all, if it were a Phils fan, why would he complain to the police--just asked for an autograph, then I've got some beachfront property in Alaska for you. No fan has the right to confront a player aanywhere--but particularly after a game--boo them while you're in the stands, call him every name in the book--but fans don't have the right to confront players outside of the stadium--or inside.

2 strikes buddy .. one more and you'll be gone quicker than you can say Scott Rolen. By the way Scott Rolen was a good guy who wanted the Phillies to spend more money on good players in free agency and just got a bad rap.
