WASHINGTON -- Meanwhile, in Clearwater, Fla., things are progressing in the rehabs of two crucial Phillies' relievers: J.C. Romero and Brad Lidge.
Assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said before Wednesday's game vs. the Nationals that Romero will pitch in his first rehab game with Clearwater on Thursday.
Closer Brad Lidge will throw in a bullpen side session Thursday and he will appear in a rehab game "fairly soon," Proefrock said.
The two can be activated from the disabled list on April 10, but that is not a realistic return date for either pitcher, Proefrock said. He wouldn't speculate on timetables, but said he was encouraged by the recent reports.
