Rollins batting sixth
Andy Martino
Jimmy Rollins, 4 for 27 on the road trip, is batting sixth today. Just had a long conversation with Rollins about his swing mechanics and he thinks he knows what’s wrong. I’ll keep you posted on that as I sit down to type stuff out.
Also, Matt Stairs is not here. He is attending his daughter’s high school graduation, so the Phils have a bench consisting of Bruntlett, Dobbs and Coste.
Victorino CF
Utley 2B
Werth RF
Howard 1B
Ibanez LF
Rollins SS
Feliz 3B
Ruiz C
Bastardo P.

I don't want to see Ibanez get walked in order to get to Rollins. JohnnySak
Rollins needs to be traded. Bring up Donald. MB2009
didn't rollins say he knew what was wrong with his swing last month? franknbeans
who cares why....I like the lineup....shane is definitely a better contact hitter...although I would switch Ibanez and Werth qblak
You have to be concerned about Rollins BA. This is the 2nd sub-par year for him. Or is it sub-par? The Marco Islander
Rollins could be a huge bargaining chip for a great starter and RH bat. The Phils should strike when the iron is hot. Oh wait, he is 4-27. KGKoons- yeah i thought j roll was going to hit 400 for the month of May? wolfburn
Werth is batting third because there's a left-handed pitcher and Manual doesn't want too many lefties in a row in his lineup. PYW
Also, has the Phillies' leadoff hitter been on base at all this series, even with a walk? Rollins and Victorino are a combined 0-for-18. PYW
I don't care that Rollins bats .240. I care when he hits leadoff and bats .240. His defensive is far too good to trade for a so-so starter. But if he isn't swinging the bat well, then he needs to bat 7th or 8th. dankil13
MB2009 ... Have you ever watched a baseball game? Rollins is a great big league defensive shortstop. Donald is a middling triple A defensive shortstop. Rollins is struggling badly at the plate this year, but his MLB stats are still better than Donald's triple A stats. We should quit pretending we have the next Hanley Ramirez cooling his heels in Allentown. GoPhilsGo
JRoll may have found something tonight with a couple of good hits. Nice split with the Dodgers and we're looking good heading to NY. CenterCityPhan
ops over .800, despite his recent struggles. Best defensive right fielder in the NL. What does Charlie see in Werth? GoPhilsGo
Rollins is a great defensive shortstop but how many balls are hit to him in a game? He greatest value to the Phillies is when he is the leadoff hitter getting on base and making things happen. His offensive value diminishes when he is hitting .222 and has to be dropped to the 6th slot in the order. The Marco Islander
Ban MB2009 for ineptitude. Donald is king of the golden sombrero in AAA. His stats make Kevin Stocker look like a HOFer. JRoll is streaky at plate but a gem in the field. mick314
Rollins is the best defensive shortstop the Phillies have ever had--and they've had some good ones (Larry Bowa, Bobby Wine). His hitting will probably come around; even if he just gets to .260 or .270, he's still a top shortstop. Neal Obstat
Mick, you are funny as usual. MB2009, it's way to soon to even go there. Another Martino article talks about Jimmy figuring out the pop up problem. Let's hope he's got it right and for the long run this time. oldecityslicker
