MILWAUKEE -- The Phillies have activated shortstop Jimmy Rollins from the disabled list. Rollins had been sidelined since Aug. 22 with a strained right groin, an injury he sustained during a game against the Washington Nationals.
It remains to be seen if Rollins will immediately move into the starting lineup when the team opens a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday night at Miller Park. With a 10 1/2-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the National League East and an 81/2-game lead over the Brewers for the best record in the National League, the Phillies have the luxury of easing Rollins back into the lineup.
The team also announced that second baseman Chase Utley will see a concussion specialist Thursday after being hit in the head during the sixth inning of the Phillies win over Atlanta Wednesday night. Utley left the game in the eighth inning after experiencing a headache. He will be examined by Dr. Rob Franks at the Rothman Institute.
