Phillies sign Seanez

POSTED: Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 9:40 AM

The Phillies just added a little pitching help.

They have signed righthander Rudy Seanez to a major-league contract, a baseball source confirmed today. Seanez, 39, went 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA and one save in a career-high 73 appearances last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his 16-year career, he is 36-26 with a 4.15 ERA.

The Dodgers released Seanez last week after a 7.71 ERA in spring training. He had signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Dodgers earlier this year.

Seanez is expected to be in uniform for tomorrow's game against the Nationals.

I see this last comment went right thru and posted...where's the one where I answered someone's question about Gor-Done's pitch speed?

Who cares about yesterday, its only one game, they lose every opening day it seems like anyway. Truth, 90% of pitchers are retreads, just look at Romero. I just wish the park would have been a little more electric, sometimes the fans are just sooooo quiet, iys kinda lame!!

The entire reason they didn't sign Lohse was his agent Boras. (This told to me personally by Dallas Green during spring training) He agreed we could have used him.

I just heard that both Wally Ritchie, and Freddie Toliver have volunteered to come back and help the bullpen out. Both are younger than Tom Gordon.

Hey G$Money, who would you have liked the Phillies to sign?? There was no good pitching available this winter.

I agree....What do we have to lose?! My only concern is his age. Even if he's great in the 'pen, what happens in a year or two? We need a good younger arm in relief so they can stick around a while.

Man, the majority of you guys should have tried out for the Saturday Night Live "The Whiners" skit. Get a grip on life. I suspect some of you even booed the Black Night parachutist who called off the chancy jumps of his comrades.

I heard a little *stat* today from John Brazer. The Phils have lost 9 out of their last 25 Opening Days.
