Phillies Get Back Help

Cole Hamels should be happy about this.

The Phillies announced today they have hired Michael Weinik, an osteopathic physician and associate chairman of the Temple University Hospital Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, to their medical staff as a "consultant for spinal evaluation and manipulation."

That means he can crack backs.

“His osteopathic training gives him a broad perspective on the management of spine disorders. He has provided similar care for the Flyers and Eagles and is extremely qualified,” Phillies team physician Michael Ciccotti said. “We believe his care will be beneficial to multiple players in Philadelphia.”

The Phillies also have established a network of physicians throughout cities the Phillies will be visiting this season, so if Hamels or anybody else needs an adjustment they can get one from somebody the Phillies feel they can trust.
