Speaking of pitching and another PA team trouncing a Florida team last night Bucknell Univ senior Mathew Wilson pitched a complete-game six-hit shutout and the Bucknell Bison pulled off a 7-0 upset victory over No. 4 nationally seeded Florida State to open their NCAA Tournament play in Tallahassee . They are a real Cinderella story and the ONLY team from Pennsylvania that made it to the Tournament Would love to see more coverage of this little team that could!! Go Bison and Go Phils!

Definitely great for Bucknell and fans of the underdog everywhere. Bucknell's CF is from my hometown so it was cool to see him do well. Being a huge Bucknell basketball fan, it's great to see another team get national notoriety on a Div. I level. I think the baseball team's win against FSU is on par with Bucknell's basketball tourney win against Arkansas...but probably not as big as the Kansas win. At any rate, it would be awesome to see the Bison advance to the World Series, although that may be too much to ask of this team. I guess we should just enjoy the victory for now and look for them to represent well in the following games.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
