NEW YORK — The Phillies will promote five to six players for September, Ryne Sandberg said. Rosters can be expanded Monday, but most of those additions will likely not come until Tuesday once the minor-league season has concluded.

Decisions were reached on the players, but Sandberg declined to reveal their identities. Not included in that "five to six" figure are rehabbing players John Mayberry Jr. and Mike Adams.

Maikel Franco, a definite candidate for promotion, was removed from Thursday's game at triple-A Lehigh Valley after five innings. The decision, according to a Phillies official, was the manager's. Franco started Friday's game.
