Major League Baseball has denied the Phillies protest of Sunday's game at Florida.

The Phillies filed the protest claiming umpire Joe West improperly used video replay, which resulted in Hunter Pence being called out because of a fan interfered with an attempt by Marlins rightfielder Bryan Peterson to make a catch on the ball hit by Pence. Video reviews are supposed to be used only to determine boundary calls for home runs.

West said he was reviewing the play to determine whether or not the ball would have been a home run. He claimed Phillies manager Charlie Manuel asked for a review to see if it was a homer. Manuel said he never asked for a rewiew.
