And the lineups...

Phils

Rollins SS
Utley 2b

Ibanez LF

Howard 1b
Werth RF
Victorino CF
Feliz eb
Coste C
Moyer LHP

Reds
Tavares CF
Hairston Jr. 3b
Phillips 2b
Bruce RF
Hernandez C
Gonzalez SS
McDonald LF
Hanigan C
Harang RHP

It will be interesting to see how Moyer does, trying for career in number 250 and hoping to lower that 8.15 ERA.

Small bit of news from the Phillies, for those who monitor the farm:

The Phillies claimed right-hander Steven Register off waivers today from the Colorado Rockies and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Register, 26, is 0-2 with six saves and a 4.50 ERA in 16 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs this season.  He appeared in 10 games with the Colorado Rockies in 2008, going 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA (10 ER, 10.0 IP).

Originally selected by Colorado in the 3rd round of the June 2004 draft, Register is 25-36 with 59 saves and a 4.49 ERA in 202 career minor league games.

We should win easy since the Reds have chosen to go with no first baseman and two catchers.

This is a big name for Moyer. I hope the ump's zone is liberal.

Don't question the genius of Dusty Baker. This gives Harang another target, and one of the two catchers can always run down the line to cover first in the event of a ground ball.

Perhaps they have Bugs Bunny in the line up tonight?

I meant big game for Moyer. Last year Harang needed two catchers.

What about the genius of Charlie Manuel? Playing Feliz ax the eb instead of 3rd base is a smart move.

You may be right we may be seeing the beginning of a new era in baseball the double catcher.

I've always thought that Feliz would make an excellent 'eb'.....I'm not sure what scares me the most: 1) Andy listing 2 catchers in the Reds lineup 2) Feliz playing the all important 'eb' position in the Phils lineup 3) the fact that Andy went to an 'Ivy League' college.

This reminds me of the game the other day in TB when there were 2 third basemen and no DH. If the line up is actually presented this way does it mean anything? Can one of the catchers play 1B? I assume so so it really makes no difference except to show that Dusty doesn't proofread his line up card any more then you do your blog posts

The two catchers can set up on both sides of the batter while the pitcher and second baseman throw from opposite sides of the rubber. Two pitches at the same time, both in front of and behind the batter, will strike fear deep into the soul of any offensive weapon in the game today. Dusty Baker, you are a genius.

Dusty Baker? A Genius? Please tell me you are joking. You could give Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, Edinson Volquez and Aaron Harang to a sock puppet and he'd be able to coax a better record out of them.

By assembling the formidable battery of Steven Register and Paul Bako in the last two days, the LVIPs are a cinch to win the IL championship this year.
