Pedro to make rehab start Sunday

The Phillies have just confirmed what was expected, that Pedro Martinez will make his first rehab start Sunday for Clearwater at Bright House Field. There was some question over whether that would be a simulated or actual game, and it will, in fact, be a real game.

Also, as I reported in this morning’s paper, Sergio Escalona, he of the many callups, has been sent all the way down to double-A Reading from Lehigh after allowed seven runs in his last two outings (2 1/3 total innings).
Rich Dubee said that Jack Taschner has been “so-so” at Lehigh, so it appears that the Phils could be short a lefty until J.C. Romero returns (Taschner has allowed six hits and one run in 5 1/3 innings, but the “so-so” probably referred more to his command, mechanics and overall look).  It hasn't been an easy year for those reality show stars out in the bullpen.
