oh swell---- another 5 inning pitcher the bullpen guys will love this move!! DONDEN31
man,i do not know if this is such a good idea, but i guess we are desperate for somebody, i mean blanton came out strong during the playoffs, so maybe pedro will make a crazy change for our pitching phillyfanto
That should be 6+ <= 3 runs is a quality start. Again, if Pedro can give us that, its better than we are getting from some of our starters now. Gary Varsho
No way the Phils give up multiple top prospects for Halladay. Anyone remember the Von Hayes 5 for 1 deal or the Minnesota Vikings deal to obtain Herschel Walker? One man for all that potential talent is rarely worth it. Eddieboy
Any team that throws grandpa moyer out there every fifth day has to look at every option. I've re-thought my earlier post knocking Pedro and see where there's really nothing to lose; he brings some insurance in the event Happ goes in a trade. if he sucks, he's gone... CrotchetyOldMan

Von f****n Hays....... M60tanker
I think we got real lucky last year with Blanton turning it on late, Hammels going unconscious in the playoffs and we had Myers. While Martinez isn't going to be the staff ace, if he does have anything left he should be better than the other guy's 4th or 5th starter. Phils_World_Champs

This is a solid move. Pedro has to pitch better than 5.06 ERA. He is an upgrade. I watched him last year, he pitches had movement and he would falter after 5 or 6 innings. He should be fully recovered and fresh. If Moyer can pitch effectively at 46, Pedro will do the same at 37. This is Amaro, JR's trinket, I would super surprise if they went after Myers replacement as the price is way to high in players and the salary made. jpelle36
If Pedro can do for Phils what El Duque did for Yankees, he will be well worth it. This guy is a Hall of Fame pitcher, this guy baffled some of the best hitters in baseball (Indians with Thome, with Manny) on a night that he had no fastball in 1999 playoffs. I do not think acquiring and using Pedro has anything to do with making a deal for Halladay. citizenkane
I don't think they should sign Pedro for the simple fact, he has not been able to stay healthy for quite some time. He is light years past his prime. I see him being exactly like Moyer this season.....needing a lot of help from the offense in order to scratch out a W, and that is if he is healthy enough to pitch. I agree with phillies 222, he has thrown 3 innings and we are ready to sign him to $4M which is crazy enough, but then put him in the rotation? Are the Fightin's really hurting this badly that we cannot find anyone else? kozykoz26- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Smokey
