Four of the Phillies' six minor-league affilliates will have new managers in 2010, the team announced Monday, but all of the names are familiar for a variety of reasons.

There is Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, the most notable of them all, who has already been introduced as the manager at triple-A Lehigh Valley. And former second baseman Mickey Morandini returns to the organization to manage single-A Williamsport for his first season as a professional manager or coach.

But two managers earned promotions and continue to climb up the organizational ladder. Mark Parent will take over double-A Reading after spending a season as manager of single-A Lakewood. Chris Truby, who managed Williamsport in 2010, assumes Parent's old role in Lakewood for 2011.

Parent, 49, caught in the majors for 13 seasons and finished his career with the Phillies. With Lakewood, he presided over the organization's finest collection of talent in 2010 and won the South Atlantic League championship.

Truby, 37, played for four teams in the majors. He managed at Williamsport for the last two seasons and will have many of those same players at Lakewood in 2011.

Dusty Wathan will return to manage single-A Clearwater and Roly deArmas will manage the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Phillies once again.

Wathan, 37, will be in charge of the majority of high-level talent that played at Lakewood in 2010. It will be his fourth season as a manager in the Phillies' system.

Along with Sandberg and Morandini, the lone other addition to the minor-league coaching staff is Les Lancaster, who will be a pitching coach for the Gulf Coast Phillies.

Steve Roadcap, who managed double-A Reading in 2010 and had spent the last five years in the organization as a manager, did not accept a position in the lower levels of the system.

The pitching coaches at triple A (Rod Nichols) and double A (Bob Milacki) remain in place. Sal Rende, who spent the last three years as the minor league hitting coordinator, will join Sandberg's staff at Lehigh Valley as a coach.

Morandini, 44, was the baseball coach for Valparaiso High School in Indiana. For the last two Phillies spring trainings, he has served as a guest instructor.
