UPDATE (3:17 p.m.): A Phillies official says X-rays on Roy Oswalt were negative. Good news for the pitcher.

EARLIER: PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Scary moment in today's Grapefruit League game against Tampa Bay, but early indications are it could have been worse.

Roy Oswalt was hit in the back of the neck by a Manny Ramirez line drive in the fourth inning. Oswalt laid on the ground for a few minutes before hopping up and walking off the field under his own power with assistant athletic trainer Mark Andersen.

The Phillies say Oswalt has a neck contusion and is going for X-rays at a local hospital. More importantly, the team said Oswalt did not lose consciousness and was not feeling dizzy.

Oswalt could have been hit in the face with the ball, but he turned away at the last moment. The ball struck him right behind the right ear on the back of the neck.

Immediately, all eight Phillies players on the field rushed toward the mound. As Oswalt rose, the crowd at Charlotte Sports Park applauded him.

More after the game...

Prayers for Roy. Baseball is a game and I'm a die hard Phillie fan, but Roy's health is what's important. He's tough as nails.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the upcoming season has the makings of FINAL DESTINATION, baseball edition...?

Don't know about you guys, but I think all of our starters are caught up, would rather them just do some simulations, maybe play the last 2, and let our minor leaguers take over till then. Just seems like its getting riskier by the day.

Why is Manny-roid still playing. Shouldn't he be on trial with Bonds???

Imagine how much worse it could have been if Manny was still on the juice . . .
