No DH callup for Friday
According to Charlie Manuel, the Phillies keep 13 pitchers on the roster tomorrow against righty A.J. Burnett at Yankee Stadium. If they call up a minor leaguer to DH against lefties Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia Saturday and Sunday—and I would not at all be surprised if they do—they would likely make the move after Friday’s game. Matt Stairs or Greg Dobbs could DH tomorrow.

- Sunday and Monday? Don't you mean Saturday and Sunday? They play the Marlins on Monday. If I could offer you a word of advice Andy, you need to slow down and check your work before you post. You make way too many mistakes on this venue for a professional journalist. Way more than your predecessor Mr. Zolecki did. RAS
Comment removed.- Since he comes from NY, we can only assume that Andy is a deep plant by/for the archrival Mets. RAS
the whole Mets/NY thing is OLD. drop it. hayes9
Actually as a Phillie fan in NY area, I appeciate the edge that Andy brings to this post. Todd ZOlecki seemed to be a mouth piece for mgmt and never addressed any real questions on fans minds (e.g. continued place in rotation for struggling pitchers like eaton, Moyer, et al). Keep up good work -- but proofread before you press "send" :) warbiscuit- I did drop it until this article came out just 10 days ago. Little too much NY bias for me. http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20090510_Inside_the_Phillies__Matching_up_with_Mets__An_early_look.html RAS
mikemike, your post was hilarious! Only trouble is, I'll bet most of the folks reading these posts didn't get it, at least judging by the grammar, spelling and punctuation of those who post frequently. marty
Andy, if you walk out the door and turn left, you will anger 50% of the people. If you turn right, you'll anger the other 50%. Do what you do. Your work is solid. Scorekeeper
Scorekeeper I agree with you completely. Andy, you do a good job. Ty Andrewsgvl
I have no idea how a report about the Phils keeping 13 pitchers on the roster for tomorrow's first game against the Yanks turned into a referendum on what you do here, Andy, but I'll go on the record in saying that I like your work. bski- Second, third and fourth the emotions of Scorekeeper, Andrewsgvl and bski. I think Andy brings an edge that I never sensed in Zolecki. Zo was fine, don't get me wrong, but not exceptional. I think Andy has a chance to be better.
- Remember, he wrote this note after the afternoon game, Charlie's postgame press conference and the interviews. And he probably was fainting with hunger (acutally that’s probably not true because they have food in the press box). So, give him a break. He's fine. I think Andy and Murph in the other side are doing a nice job not only reporting but keeping us with up-to-date information (like this one), contribution their point of views and insights in these blogs, stuff that as beat reporters they can't do in the regular articles. EL Zorro
RAS, this time you're off base. I read that article and found it a fair assessment of of both teams. oldecityslicker
When in doubt, go with ElZorro. Keep up the good work, Andy, and let us know how you and Murph rate the food in the New YS. Also, check out NL leader stats this AM. Soon, Ziggy Ibanez will be mentioned as potential triple crown guy. Loved Pat, but the anti Ziggy guys need to regroup and face reality. mick314
You write like a talk show caller; nothing informative and info we could have gleaned from other sights. The last guy seemed to have better connections. psulongago
