Nats GM calls Hamels 'gutless'

WASHINGTON — The blowback from Cole Hamels drilling Bryce Harper on the back has already begun. Count Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo as one who believes the lefthander should be suspended.

Mike Rizzo called out Hamels in comments to The Washington Post on Monday morning. He held nothing back.

"Cole Hamels says he's old school? He's the polar opposite of old school," Rizzo said. "He's fake tough. He thinks he's going it intimidate us after hitting our 19-year rookie eight games into the big leagues? He doesn’t know who he's dealing with."

Rizzo said he has "never seen a more classless, gutless chicken [bleep] act in my 30 years in baseball."

"This goes beyond rivalry and all that stuff," Rizzo said. "This points to, you take the youngest guy in baseball. He's never done a thing. And then Hamels patted himself on the back. Harper’s old school. Hitting him on the back, that ain’t old school. That’s [bleeping] chicken [bleep]."

The Nationals come to Citizens Bank Park in exactly two weeks. That will be fun.

It really is too much talking from Rizzo. This is a lot of excitement for May 7. What will Rizzo say for an encore?

I can never recall an opposing team "fabricate" a rivalry against any of our Phiadelphia professional sports teams such as the one now being fabricated by the Washington Front Office and Ownership. True rivalries are forged on the the fields of play, not through the mouths of white collar office types. The names alone stand out: Landry, Staubach, Gifford, Taylor, Parcells, Gibbs, Jurgensen, Orr, Esposito, Bowman, LaFluer, Dryden, Robinson, Trottier, Bird, Russell, Auerbach, Frazier, Reed, Stargell, Parker, Clemente, Garvey, Lasorda, Cey. All despised and all respected for their accomplishments. This trumped up Washington rivalry is fake, WWE-like. I'm not and won't buy into what Mike Rizzo or the CEO may say, it's up to their players to play the game the right way on the field. Their standard of play will determine where any rivalry with Phiadelphia goes into the future. The last I checked, it was May 7, 2012, not September 30, 2012. Come back and see us when your team has come through in the pressure packed crucible of a pennant race, NL playoffs and World Series. Until then, your cries are hollow and shrill.......

What happened to all the Phillies fans that called Hamels gutless a few years ago? Oh, they woke up.

Gutless? Not hardly...Cole knew that he'd be getting plunked as well...I guess pitchers like Bob Gibson, Nolan Ryan and Don Drysdale were gutless too...Hey Rizzo, time for a diaper change and then back to your crib for a nap...

Actually it is type or write proper English. No one here is speaking. That is a sound. Your response therefore is not taken serous, but I hope you feel better. How about making a point next time?

I think that should be not taken "seriously".

Not necessarily. Depends on how you read it. Perhaps you would have chosen it that way, but it works.

It really is ok to admit your are incorrect. It will help with your growth. The term "serious" is being used to describe the word "taken", which is a verb. Therefore, an adverb would be appropriate - not an adjective which describes a noun.
