Moyer throws three scoreless innings

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Jamie Moyer pitched three scoreless innings in his first outing of the spring, a B game against the Blue Jays at Bright House Field.

Moyer threw 31 pitches and 23 were for strikes. He allowed three singles and struck out three batters while walking none. For Moyer, who underwent three off-season surgeries and endured another hospital stay for a blood infection, it marked a solid debut.

Moyer's main competition for the fifth starter's job is Kyle Kendrick, who threw an impressive scoreless two frames against the Yankees on Wednesday.

After finishing his outing a few moments ago, Moyer walked down the left field line back to the clubhouse to a decent applause from the 100 or so fans who are taking this one in. Chad Durbin is in the game now and we're about to hit the road for the 1 p.m. game in Dunedin.
