Merry Christmas, everybody!

I'm guessing most people who check out this blog regularly received some sort of Phillies merchandise for the holidays.

Phil Sheridan writes in today's paper that Christmas is a day to appreciate the gifts you've been given or wallow in misery over those that didn't come. He would like Philly fans to appreciate the Phillies championship a little more before 2009. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Merry Christmas, Todd! Thanks for taking a few minutes to post something new. It's been a little boring here on the Zone, the last couple of days! LOL! I read Phil's article this morning. And boy, was he right on! Enough complaining about what we (or the rest of the Philly teams), don't have. Appreciate, what we do! Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas!

Stupid article. Contrary to the writer's opinion, you can appreciate the wonderful season the Phillies had and, at the same time, still be disgusted at the pitiful job Andy Reid is doing, squandering a promising season.

I received as a gift from my Pirate-fan brother the 2008 World Series movie on DVD, featuring commentary from, among others, Todd Zolecki. Neat!

I'll be posting less frequently pretty much through spring training. One, I need a little time to recharge the batteries. Two, there shouldn't be much Phillies news over the next few weeks. But thanks for the kind words everybody!

Zo, well deserved time off, hope you can find a nice island somewhere. Got the 8 DVD set, only had to drop 100 hints to daughters. Game 5 was featured on the TV during the family get together and everything stopped while we all watched the last 3 innings. Great listening to Harry and the boys call it.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
