Hope you’re out enjoying the holiday, and if you’re looking at this it’s a quick peek at the Blackberry during your barbeque.

A special hello today to our veterans. I always admire athletes who understand their position in society and use their platform to give back, but that spirit of service is multiplied many, many times over by those who chose to serve our country. I’m grateful to my late grandfather, Raymond Martino, who fought in World War II; to my close friend, Sean Casey, a captain in the U.S. Army who has served in Iraq; and to all the vets reading this and watching the game today.

Here is the Phils lineup:
Rollins SS
Utley 2b
Ibanez LF
Howard 1b
Werth RF
Victorino CF
Feliz 3b
Ruiz C
Moyer LHP, going for win # 250

Also, I'll be doing a live chat tomorrow at 11am, so get your questions ready.

I like tonight's lineup; there's no way to pitch around Ryho and they've got muscle from top to bottom. Look for both Ibanez and Ruiz to come up big.

Jamie a little bettertonight, but it's all relative because Florida usually stinks it up against him. But Jamie continues to have to walk the tightrope and he always appears as if he's ready to fall. I know it may be an overrated stat, but after tonight's game Jamie has given up 68 hits in 47 innings. Add in 16 walks and there is no way he should win a game unless his team scores 8-9 runs. That 3-0 pitch to Paulino in the sixth was ridiculous. At that point, walk the guy and face the pitcher because even Ronny Paulino can hit an 81 mph pitch down the middle with a 3-0 count.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
