A few injury updates:

Brad Lidge plans to throw a bullpen session during the day Friday, at which point he will determine if he can pitch in that night’s game. If not, he may have to go to the DL, though it would be retroactive to his last appearance April 25.

Cole Hamels was nowhere to be found this afternoon, but Rich Dubee and Ruben Amaro Jr. said they are still hopeful that Hamels could start Monday in St. Louis. Hamels will throe a bullpen either Friday or Saturday, and everyone will know more then.

Carlos Ruiz took batting practice with the big boys today, and will report to Lehigh Valley for rehab tomorrow, where he is scheduled to catch.

Here are the lineups:

A Natty Nat is a target for DDT or a possible contestent on the Tyra Banks Show, but certainly not a ballplayer (unless, Tyra has a particular game in mind)

The radio guys said Hamels was out long-tossing before tonight's game and showed no signs of the ankle injury.

Last night's game was definitely a bit lack luster. Coste came oh-so-close to blowing the game wide open when the bases were loaded early in the game. Myers was a bit wishy-washy if you ask me.

Myers pitched OK, but his fastball isn't what it used to be. He's got to improve his control. You can't walk the 8th and 9th batters, especially the pitcher.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Follow him on Twitter here.

Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
