Manuel Takes Second in NL Manager of the Year

Charlie Manuel, who led the Phillies to their first World Series championship since 1980, finished second in the National League Manager of the Year voting behind Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella.

Charlie Manuel, who led the Phillies to their first World Series championship since 1980, finished second in the National League Manager of the Year voting behind Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella.

It is important to note that these votes came before the postseason.

Piniella received 15 first-place votes and finished with 103 points.

Manuel received eight first-place votes and finished with 67 points.

Fredi Gonzalez, Joe Torre and Tony La Russa also received first-place votes. Jerry Manuel, Cecil Cooper and Dale Sveum also received votes.
