MRI shows Lidge's elbow is fine
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
MILWAUKEE -- The Phillies received good news on the injury front Thursday when an MRI of closer Brad Lidge's right elbow showed no structural damage. Instead, Lidge has inflammation in the lining of his elbow joint. He is day-to-day with that injury.
Lidge had felt stiffness in his surgically repaired elbow during the past few days and was sent back to Philadelphia for an examination. The MRI revealed his flexor pronator surgery performed in November is healing properly.
Lidge has allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings in 2010. He is expected to rejoin the team here for the three-game series that begins Friday.
Um...hooray? hunsinator
This is great news. Give then man another cortisone shot and 3-4 days more rest and he'll be good to go. crkreg- Shoot 'em up, send 'em out.
- he's become like a real life game of Operation
Very good news! flyerdup
Good stuff. Sit him and Ruiz for the Brewers series and start the homestand with J-Roll, Lidge and Chooch and we are good to go. ESFjellin
Looks they will be healthy by July when all is said and done. nilsen
Why is there inflamation? DallasWillAlwaysSuck
Fine? Fine? Please.....Maybe you should consult with a sports medicine professional like myself before you write this kind of stuff..... Lidge will be day to day for the duration of his career which probably won't be too much longer unless he's willing to pitch with pain and/or stiffness all the time because that's what you experience at this stage of joint degeneration. That's exactly what this is, joint degeneration. As long as he tries to throw baseballs 95mph, the joint surfaces will continue to experience trauma on a regular basis. This leads to even more degenration over time, which means more stiffness and arthritis in the elbow. Why didn't anyone believe me when I posted this right here on this board 4 months ago? Mark1npt
Mark were you a minor league pitcher back in the day? BammBamm
Mark - could it be because you are a-moron? JohnnySak
nah nah nah nah nah nah hey hey GOODBYE banned4nothing
With all due respect Mark1npt, without actually seeing the medical records your analysis remains a guess - perhaps an educated guess - but a guess nonetheless. And of course, had you actually worked with those records, you would be precluded from discussing them here. judas_priest
No, Bamm, I wasn't a minor leaguer, not nearly good enough for that. Hence my staying in school and studying for a specialized career in sports medicine. My guess is based on 30 years experience treating these injuries and surgeries...and having been a pitcher for 25 years, knowing the demands placed on the arm. I don't have to view Brad's records. You all have been told what was done in the surgeries by the Phils brass. I'm telling you what to expect after the surgeries, not because I'm guessing, but because I know. It's my job, my career, my profession. Mark1npt- Lidge hasn't been right in over a year but the you writers say he's fine. Well I feel much better now. Aside from Conlin now and then there is not an objective sports writer in this town. Captain
