Lineups plus some notes

In the last seven games, no opposing starter has pitched beyond five innings against the Phillies. So that tall task belongs to Braves rookie lefthander Mike Minor tonight. He goes against Roy Halladay, who is seeking to become the Phillies' first 20-game winner since 1982.

Here are the lineups:

Braves
1. Omar Infante 2B
2. Jason Heyward RF
3. Martin Prado 3B
4. Brian McCann C
5. Derrek Lee 1B
6. Nate McLouth LF
7. Alex Gonzalez SS
8. Rick Ankiel CF
9. Mike Minor LHP

Phillies
1. Shane Victorino CF
2. Placido Polanco 3B
3. Chase Utley 2B
4. Ryan Howard 1B
5. Jayson Werth RF
6. Raul Ibanez LF
7. Carlos Ruiz C
8. Wilson Valdez SS
9. Roy Halladay RHP

Some notes:

-- The last righthander pitcher to win 20 games for the Phillies was the late Robin Roberts in in 1955. Twenty-six pitchers have won 20 games in Phillies history.

-- Halladay has 12 wins in the NL East, the most by any pitcher since the National League was broken into three divisions prior to the 1994 season. He is 12-1 against NL East opponents. The last pitcher to go 13-1 against the NL East was Pittsburgh's Jim Bibby in 1980.

-- The Phillies have won 49 games at home. They have not won 50 games at home since 1993, when they were 52-29 at Veterans Stadium.

-- Kyle Kendrick will not start this weekend against the Mets. Instead, with the day off Thursday, the Phillies bumped Kendrick back to likely Tuesday in Washington. So that means Joe Blanton, Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay will pitch against New York this weekend at Citizens Bank Park.

Just don't pitch Halladay against that R.A. Dickey. We can't hit him and won't hit him. stinking knuckleballers should be outlawed.

Hey jpelle36, it said MAY wrap up the division BEFORE the next Braves series, which is the last series of the season. Read before you comment. And get your facts straight. They most likely, again not saying they will, wrap up the division before the final series of the season, which happens to be against the Braves. IF they do, they can rest H2O and the regulars and get ready for the playoffs.

1 game at a time 1 series at a time, I remember 1964 nothing is guaranteed in baseball this team is better than the 1976-1981 phillies and they were the best of any phillies era until now.

I think both Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay should get MVP votes...but Doc has to be listed as number 1!

Random Facts: Phillies are 26-17 (.605) without Chase Utley, 12-4 without Ryan Howard (.750), 11-5 without Shane Victorino (.688); 11-10 without Chooch (.524); 11-16 without Polly (.407); and 39-30 without J-Roll (.565). They are 37-15 since trading for Roy Oswalt; 42-15 since the 1-hitter they threw at the Cardinals (mostly by Cole Hamels) and won in 12 innings, 1-0. What do we make of all that? Placido Polanco and Chooch Ruiz are among the more underrated players in baseball (though not necessarily in the Delaware Valley); Ruben is a pretty good GM for picking up RoyO; with any run support Cole Hamels would be the leading contender for the Cy Young Award; the Phillies might have overpaid for Ryan Howard on that contract extension; the center of power on this team has clearly shifted from the three home grown guys in the infield to the top three in the starting rotation; AND THERE AIN'T NO WAY THE PHILLIES ARE LOSING THIS DIVISION.

Is tbone pickins Kyle's mom? He does, though, have a point. Kendrick does have 10 wins and a sub-5.00 ERA. He's been maddening to watch, but if he only gives up a run in his 30-pitch first innings you can count on him for a decent start.

hate on him all you want, but Kendrick has contributed to the Phillies as the fifth starter this year. the real losers are you dopes who can't figure that out.

Charlie (rightfully) has little confidence in Kendrick. Let's win this WS, hold a parade and then send Kyle packing.

lighten up jpelle36 - this team is much better than the 1964 team (granted I was not alive then, but they were more of a blip in the radar, not a team with a pedigree like the 2010 version). They're 4 up with 11 to go... nothing wrong with hoping for them to clinch before the last series so they can align their pitchers appropriately for the NLDS. No, it is not locked up yet, but it's close, I think that's all he was saying.

Mr. Gelb, It is nice that you give all these stats but I reviewed your video last night and found it wanting. You stated that the Phillies may wrap the division up before the next Braves series. May I suggest that you do research on the Phillies 1964 season with emphasis on the last 12 games. Never count your chickens until they hatch. The Phillies can win or sweep this series and still not win the Division!

Doc has been everything he was built up to be, get him this 'W' tonight and lets go out tomorrow and do the same thing with the other Roy.

Halladay has made a great difference. He should get the CY plus should be top 5 in the MVP voting, imo.
