Hamels update

POSTED: Saturday, April 11, 2009, 7:04 PM

How many games will Cole Hamels win this season?
8 or fewer (He’ll never be completely healthy)
9-10 (He’s headed toward a frustrating year)
11-16 (He’ll get healthy, but it won’t be a great year)
17 or more (He’ll be healthy and have a great year as expected)

Cole Hamels and Charlie Manuel both said that the lefty will make his scheduled start Thursday in Washington, barring some unforeseen disaster.  Hamels told me 20 minutes ago that his elbow feels fine the day after starting, as it has for weeks.

I'd love to see the lowly Capitals bash that big mouth next.

What the hey, i promise. In this age of electronic news, it's arguably relevant for us news consumers to know how fresh the latest word is. Chill the frick out on Andy, who's doing a good job.

"i promise" is a little dweeb who hides behind the anonymity of posting to get his rocks off by saying gratuitous nasty (and stupid) things about people. He's a weeny.

RollinsWasRight.......I guess the Phils must have seen your post after Tuesday's game about how difficult it is to string together 3 or 4 hits and get/keep a rally going, especially when they start with 2 outs and nobody on base because that's all they did last night. The first 7 runs we scored last night all came after there were 2 outs and nobody on base.

I take offense to the accusation that I might be the same person as I promise to be nice. My requests for Andrew Martino's friendship are based on a genuine affection for him. Mr. Martino does an excellent job with his blog. There are rarely grammatical errors, and when there are he admits to them. His posts are never summaries of all the articles published in the newspaper. Nor do I expect Mr. Martino to be the Phillies version of Deep Throat, as some others do. Getting in the face of players would lead to less information in the future, not more and mostly because I don't believe there is any hidden information about this team. The information provided to us by Mr. Martino is concise, accurate and timely and asking for more is unfair. Yet, after reading his posts I always feel compelled to ask for more, I need his friendship. May I ask again Mr. Martino for your hand in friendship?
