Brad Lidge will be activated tomorrow, and a corresponding roster move will be made, according to Ruben Amaro. Lidge said that, while not entirely healed, he feels no pain when he pitches and his mechanics are back to normal.

Obviously Vanessa and Frank have no idea what they are talking about. The only thing they probably know about baseball is what you spoon feed them Andy

With a nine run lead and Charlie lifts Moyer after 6? The starters HAVE TO DO A BETTER JOB going deeper in the game! Do we trade for a reliever- no, if our starters cant man up and go 7, then we trade for starters.

I think Frank is a bit smarter then you give him credit for, as he was commenting on the fact that no catcher was listed in the starting line up. That attack was uncalled for. ckirk, maybe you could add something to the conversation rather then tear others down who try.

Actually, Frank is right on this one. I left out Carlos Ruiz, batting ninth and catching. I believe that's what the springy net reference was about. As for Vanessa, you seem a tad angry at times...

The Phillies use pitch-counts to a fault. If the starter has over 100 pitches he is going to be replaced. They were successful last year with this strategy, and they are going to error on the conservative side with all the pitching injuries. Also, it gave the inexperienced relievers some work. I don't think the Phillies should force any trades unless they can get the "right" pitcher for the "right" price. They might be able to better in the off-season. While it is always nice to repeat as Champions, they shouldn't make trades for "questionable" players just to appease an over-impassioned and impatient fan base. Patience is the key word for management, players and fans with the current problems.

This is awesome news!!! I've missed Lidge blowing saves for the past 2 weeks. I'm sure that won't happen again. Of course, the Phillies actually have to have THE LEAD for him to come in, so it's unlikely we'll see him at all......

Andy Martino.........A question, if you please. Last night marked the 3rd time, in less than half a season mind you, that the only run the Phils scored in a game came from a solo home run by Jason Werth (the other two were on 4/22 against the Brewers and on 6/17 against the Blue Jays). It just got me wondering who holds the record for that. I'm sure the Elias Sports Bureau would have the answer. If you have the opportunity, could you find out from the Phillies' statisticians who holds the single-season record----both for the Phils and the all-time MLB-----for number of times a solo home run by a player has accounted for the only run his team scored in a game? Thank you.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover
Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.
This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
